ABOUT
THE DEPARTMENT
The
Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at the University of
Miami School of Medicine is dedicated to excellence and innovation
in research and education of physicians and research scientists.
The
research programs in the department focus on basic questions
in cell biology that are relevant to medically important problems.
The faculty have a large number of collaborations with scientists
from other departments as well as participation and leadership
roles in research centers at the Medical School (i.e.,the
Cancer Center, the Miami Project, the Diabetes Research Institute,
and the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.) The department offers
a Ph.D. in Cell Biology. There are currently 19 graduate students
in the program.
In
addition to teaching four courses in the core curriculum of
the medical school, the faculty is heavily involved in the
highly ranked Physical Therapy Program. The department offers
electives to senior medical students and provides training
in clinical residency programs.
