Research
Interests
Rapid
advances in computer-related technologies have significantly altered
the ways in which students learn and the methods by which professors
teach and evaluate students. A high percentage of students now own
notebook computers and personal digital assistants (PDAs) such as
Palm Pilots and Pocket PCs. They expect to have access to lecture
presentations on the Internet and be able to download them to their
computers or, eventually, their PDAs. Our faculty and graduate students
must be prepared to meet the new demands and opportunities that
such changes engender.
This
explosion in technology opens fertile avenues for exploring knowledge
acquisition and student evaluation. Using a number of software applications
and digital equipment, the investigator produces and utilizes original
images, illustrations and QuickTime movies in producing multimedia
presentations for the lecture hall, internet and ultimately DVDs.
Current focus relates to the creation and applicability of interactive,
animated Macromedia Flash programs in medical education.
