Overview
The M.P.H. program is accredited by the Council on Education
for Public Health (C.E.P.H.). The M.P.H. degree is a professional
degree for students who require a broad general academic experience
in public health. Students will acquire competency in the
fundamental public health disciplines: the basic public health
sciences including research design and conduct; data analysis
and policy analysis; communications; program planning and
administration; public health systems and the organization
of health services in the United States and Latin America;
recognition and analysis of ethical issues in public health
and professional practice; the needs of special populations;
and the integration of these core disciplines in public health
decisionmaking. The M.P.H. is a 45-credit hour program requiring
27 credit hours of core courses, 6 credit hours for the capstone
experience, and 12 credit hours of electives in an area(s)
that is of interest to the student. Full-time students can
be expected to complete the program in two years.
