Program Plan
The M.P.H. degree is a 45-credit program requiring
27 credits of core courses, 12 credits of elective courses
and 6 credits for the capstone experience. Students who hold
an M.D. degree or equivalent are eligible for a 9-credit waiver
towards the M.P.H. degree. Students who wish to attend the
program full-time can complete the M.P.H. degree in two years,
including summer sessions. Otherwise, a maximum of six years
is allowed.
Elective Course Work (12 credits)
After completion of the core courses, the student may select
courses to fit his/her own area of interest. This allows for
personal tailoring of the academic program to fit the student’s
individual needs and career goals.
Culminating “Capstone” Experience (6
credits)
A public health supervised field placement, which consists
of 300 contact hours, is required for the M.P.H. degree. These
contact hours may be completed over the course of several
semesters.
