Program Plan
The M.S.P.H. degree is a 45-credit program
requiring 24 credits of core courses, 15 credits of elective
courses and 6 credits for the capstone experience. Students
who hold an M.D. degree or equivalent are eligible for a 9-credit
waiver towards the M.S.P.H. degree. Students who wish to attend
the program full-time can complete the M.S.P.H. degree in
two years, including summer sessions. Otherwise, a maximum
of six years is allowed.
Elective Course Work (15 credits)
After completion of the core courses, the student may select
courses to fit his/her own area of interest. This allows for
personal tailoring of the academic program to fit the student’s
individual needs and career goals.
Culminating “Capstone” Experience (6
credits)
An individual investigation of a current public health problem
is required for al M.S.P.H. students as a capstone experience.
Students will work closely with a faculty project advisor
and project committee during their investigation.
