Director, Dr. Edward Trapido, Sc.D.
This is an exciting time to be considering
a career in Epidemiology and Public Health. Recent world events
have made people aware that public health is a global and
local concern, as evidenced by bioterrorism, the emergence
and re-emergence of diseases, the disparities in the availability
of drugs and medical services, the worldwide impacts of industry
and technology, and population shifts. While our ability to
understand risk factors, disease etiology, and disease outcomes
has increased with advances in informatics, and through genetic
and molecular techniques, understanding these in the context
of populations requires specialized training.
The University of Miami's Teaching Programs in Epidemiology
and Public Health offers a distinct set of attributes to the
prospective or continuing student. On behalf of our faculty
and staff, who are dedicated to bringing educational excellence
to our student body, I welcome your interest in the Teaching
Programs in Epidemiology and Public Health.
