Lois Pope LIFE Fellowship Awards

A generous gift from the Lois Pope LIFE Foundation has allowed the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine to offer the Lois Pope LIFE Fellowship Awards to support deserving predoctoral students in the biomedical sciences doing research in neuroscience.

The Lois Pope LIFE Foundation Research Award is given to current graduate students in the biomedical sciences who demonstrate outstanding research productivity in the field of neuroscience as judged by a poster presentation at Neuroscience Research Day. Predoctoral students in the biomedical sciences in Years 4 and higher, engaged in neuroscience-related research, may apply for one of five $1000 awards. Previous award recipients may reapply, but research presented must be substantially different than the previous year’s poster.

The Lois Pope LIFE Foundation Development Award is given to current graduate students in the biomedical sciences who demonstrate excellent research potential in the field of neuroscience. Predoctoral students in the biomedical sciences in Years 2-3 who are engaged in neuroscience-related research, and have defended, or will soon be defending, their dissertation proposals may apply for a $2500 award. $1000 is given in Year 1, and $1500 is given in Year 2 provided the student is in making satisfactory progress.

Applicants do NOT have to be students in the Neuroscience graduate program. Recipients may use their awards for education and research related expenses.
