Dr. Mary Bartlett Bunge will be awarded an honorary doctoral degree from Simmons College in Boston.
Mary Bartlett Bunge, Ph.D., Christine E. Lynn Distinguished Professor of Neuroscience and professor of cell biology and anatomy and neurological surgery, will be awarded an honorary doctoral degree at the May graduation ceremony for Simmons College in Boston. Dr. Bunge works on spinal cord repair in the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.
Craig Roberts receives Best Student Research Award.
Craig Roberts a Neuroscience Graduate Student has been awarded second place winner of this year's Best Student Research Award. This award is made possible by the Medical Faculty Association Margaret Whelan Graduate Student Scholarship Fund. Craig and his mentor, Dr. Steve Roper, will be honored at an MFA luncheon in September. More information.

The Neuroscience Program at the University of Miami trains graduate students and postdoctoral fellows for research and teaching careers in the neurosciences. The research interests of the faculty include: the cellular mechanisms underlying neurological diseases such as Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's Disease, and AIDS-related dementia; the ways in which chemical addictions are acquired and can be controlled; strategies to limit and even repair damage to the brain and spinal cord; the molecular mechanisms underlying ion channels and neurotransmitter receptors; sensory transduction; mechanisms of learning and memory; and the development of the nervous system.
